Gadeer Kamal-Mreeh
Gadeer Kamal-Mreeh's personal and professional journey makes her a powerful embodiment of Israeli society's diversity and complexity. Throughout her career, Kamal-Mreeh has achieved several significant milestones. She was the first non-Jewish anchorwoman to broadcast the main evening news in Hebrew and Arabic languages in Israel (some days in both languages on the same night). In April 2019, she was elected to the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) as a member of the Blue and White party, making history as the first Druze woman to become a Member of the Knesset, where she was re-elected twice. In 2021, she was appointed by Mr. Isaac Herzog, then the chairman of the "Jewish Agency for Israel," today the President of the state of Israel, to serve as the first non-Jewish Senior Envoy of the Jewish Agency for Israel to Washington D.C.
